Auto insurance?
I am getting my license soon. I will be turning 18 i live in queens ny. I have a 2001 suv i never been in an accident or gotten a ticket or anything. I will be a first time driver. What would be a ball park price for auto insurance. Please do not give me a website to look at just a ball park number.

- call for a quote, it all depends on what coverage you want. i work at an auto insurance agency, get a yellowpages book and call a few agencies it will take like 10/15 min.
- Of course you haven't had a ticket or accident, you haven't been driving. At 18 you will be high risk, Only your agent can answer the question as to the amount, since there are too many factors to guess. If you still live at home, your cheapest alternative will be being added to your parents policy.
- Well for starters you'll be paying more because you're under 25, if you're male, the area you live, how many miles a week you drive etc. Piece of advice - make it a habit to keep your cell phone turned off when you enter a car , for that is one of the major cause of accidents - inattention to your surroundings. Hate to say how many times I almost got hit by a driver on a cell phone. My 20 yr old niece pulls to the side of the road to answer/talk.
- Even state minimum requirements will be expensive! Unfortunately, rates in NYC/surrounding areas are high. If you are male, you'll be in the $5900/year range for basic coverage - $3800 range if female. Sorry! :(
