Do Car Insurance Companies Verify Marraige?
My girlfriend and I have the same last name, a baby, and we live together. For all intents and purposes, we are married, just not legally. If I apply for car insurance, do I have to give proof that we are married?
Public Comments
- you can put anyone on your car insurance, married or not...it's just insuring whoever you know is going to be driving the vehicle.
- Well, they run a credit check and that will show whether you're married or not. Y'all have the same last name and you're not married? Either that's really creepy, or y'all both have a really common name like Jones or Smith :)
- No, but if you get in an accident and they discover you lied.. you may get your claim denied. Why risk it?
- I think you will find they ask about spouse, not husband or wife. In many jurisdictions, common-law has the same legal weight for things like insurance as marriage, especially if their is a child of the union. Mind you, different states have different rules for common-law unions for other purposes, like property rights and probate. You might want to look at this page. http://www.brandeslaw.com/common_law_marriage/what_states_allow_common_law_marriage.htm
- Some insurance companies are strict and will check if you are legally married, some insurance companies as long as your 21 and over they wont even budge to ask or do a background check.....go ahead and email me if you have any other concerns or need help in anything.
- no, my husband and i have different last names and before we were even married we were listed on the policy as married. I work for a fortune 500 company and we have never requested or investgated if someone was married. it does not pull up on the reports thats TMI and due to the privacy act that is information we do not need to know.
- Much better to tell them, because at the end they could still discover them. Just be honest to the car insurance company that youre planning to insure your car. For some car insurance that offfering cheap car insurance payments you can try to visit this site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com collect quotes from here and make a best deal for your car and select the company that could give you a much cheaper car insurance services.
- No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web. Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around? the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great. this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins. The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman. Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy. So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net. Good starting point is at this site. http://insurance.deal4-you.com Good luck.
- Most companies do not require proof of marriage; however, in the event of a claim - it could be denied due to fraud.
- I don't get it. You can get insurance whether you are married or not, your wife might want to drive or she might not require to drive and you get a cover to insure you depending on your needs. But all insurers are different and there might be one with a special discount for married couples, if you then try to get on board of this one BUT you are NOT married then... hey, in case they have to pay out you have just given them a reason NOT to pay you! But if you do the thing online, (fill the form I mean) then you will know exactly what they ask, and also you will get prices from different brokers, it might be cheaper to just compare, instead of going for some strange special deal for couples. Hope that made any sense, here is where I go to get an idea of a price, they are good as you can combine health insurance as well http://www.kqzyfj.com/3m117efolfn255A894C24375947C?sid=1234
