Any idea how much car insurance will cost upfront for a new driver in NY?

Hello, I am looking to get insurance for the first time in my own name. I am 19 living in NY. I don't know how much to expect to pay to get my car initally insured is it higher than the monthly payment will be? and about how much should I be expecting to pay monthly? I have taken driving course and my car is an 02' mustang convertible.... A monthly price range and initial cost will answer my question... Thanks in Advance... I will choose best answer.
