Rough estimate of my car insurance cost?

Hello, I'm 17 years old, male, never been in an accident or anything, and I am currently insured by my parents. If I wanted to get my own car insurance, roughly how much would this cost me? Thanks.

  1. 3-400/mo depending on the car.
  2. A lot! depends which state you live in! in CA you need to have 3 years of license or more in order to even get a quote! (thats for State Farm) but its a lot, trust me stick with your parents until you have at least like 7 to 8 years of license experience but keep your record clean it matters a lot!
  3. well probably expensive! 1 because you are a male, usually a males insurance are higher because it is a proven fact that males mature slower than females. and another thing would be how new the car is, if it is newer it will definitely be expensive! I would say around $200-250
  4. Wow man. I had this same problem. I got my license at 17 but I had no way of getting insurance. I asked my parents and they told me I was too big of a risk. So I searched on my own on sites like Gieco and progressive. My quote was about 600 a month. For six months I got a discount and they said I had to pay 2400 dollars. Wait until 19 years of age or until 2 and a half years when your insurance goes down too about 200 dollars a month. Thats all I have to say because I am 19 years old myself.
  5. It depends on where you live; it depends on your credit score. It could also depend on the car that you drive even though it may be liability only.
  6. Between $2,000 and $15,000 a year, depending on car and coverages and a buncha other things.
  7. it would cost less to just pay your parents each month than getting insurance yourself, and if your only 17, they will end up being just as liable. so, do yourself a favor, stay on their policy for a while longer, get all the discounts you can, good student, drivers ed, ect. and in a few years "spinoff" their policy to get your own, your not even 18, so even if you could afford to pay 250-300 a month on your own insurance it would be the lowest possible limits that you could afford, that being said, if you get into an accident creating injuries for someone else then once your own policy is maxed out, they are still comming for your parents money. you are 17 and they are still financially responsible and liable for all you do.
