Best Ways to Reduce Car Insurance?
I found this article on ForbesAutos.com about best ways to reduce my car insurance. Is this true? http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/toptens/ten-ways-to-lower-your-car-insurance.html?partner=yahooa

- It depends on where you live, but generally, yes, the article gives good advice. Higher deductibles often help. Having a clean driving record helps immensely. The vehicle itself affects the rate. Drive a vehicle that is safer (lower injury settlement rates and lower accident frequency both lower rates). In many places, leased vehicles cost more to insure than owned vehicles.
- Best ways to reduce your rates are as follows: 1. always pay cash for your car. Then you can choose which physical damage coverages you want, and which deductibles. 2. buy cars 4 years old or older. There's a significant reduction in the cost of insurance for older cars. 3. pay your bills on time. Yes, credit scores DO have a massive impact on your auto insurance rates. 4. Be a nice driver. Nice drivers get in fewer accidents, and have fewer tickets, than aggressive drivers. Fewer accidents and tickets mean lower auto insurance rates. Bottom line - aside from your credit score, driving habits, and car choice, the only way to reduce insurance rates is to lower coverage - whether raising your deductibles, eliminating some coverages, or not. And that's just not practical for a lot of people. But then, paying bills on time, minimizing debt, driving politely and carefully, and driving a boring car isn't practical for a lot of people, either.
- This is a great article. I think I need to send this to some of my clients! Of course, each state and each insurer vary in available discounts and rules, but this is pretty dead on.
- That is a good article. Here is another one that I found with similar advice, but a few other tips as well. http://www.e-wisdom.com/auto-insurance/save-money-on-auto-insurance.html#affordable-car-insurance
- Yes. Also, always ask each carrier who gives you a quote for their discounts - ask what's available and how you can qualify for any discounts. Each year, go back to your auto insurer and ask about a discount. Also, if you get a better quote this year from a new insurer, tell your agent and your insurance company and ask if they can match the better quote you got from the new auto isnurance company.
- Hey these are great but they did not list the discounts, these are basically the ONLY way to slash your auto insurance premium. Check out this blog post that I read it gives you the Discounts like Air Bag, Car pooling, Military etc - Check it out here: http://www.porscheforsale.info/2007/12/13/how-to-reduce-car-insurance/
