how is car insurance worked out?

I am 17 and i am thinking of buying a car but i want to know things i will be paying other then the actual car price like the insurance, MOT i don't know what they mean but they are everywhere. So what are the things that affect my insurance plus i live in UK if that is also important.

A new car that is financed, will require Full Coverage again that adds in considerably more. Remember every accident your have will cause that ensure premium to increase to the point they will cancel the policy and you are without insurance. DWI or Drug convictions will also hit you hard. Keep yourself clean and find a vehicle that is affordable and not too old that have been regularly maintained. Almost forgot, some areas are higher because of the number of accidents. Is the vehicle left in the street or parked in a garage, etc.
