1. Both Consumer Reports and JD Power rank Amica as the top ranking car insurance company in all measurements. Check to see if Amica is available in your state.
2. Just by experience, State Farm is great. Really great customer service. They informed me on other types of insurance ie: life, health, flood, but did not use high pressure. I got a ticket for speeding and it was waived because it was my first driving offense on my policy.
3. "best" is subjective. Do you want the lowest premium? Or do you want the best service? The lowest premium really depends on your driving record, your credit status, and where you live. Each insurance company markets towards a certain type of drivers. So the cheapest for you, may not be the cheapest for me. Shop around. As far as best customer service, USAA and Amica have the highest customer loyalty in insurance providers. Which means people must be happy with their service there. Others that are high up on the list include State Farm, Farm Bureau, Allstate, Gieco, Erie, and AAA.
4. Depends on your credit score, location, driving record, etc. Each company targets a different niche. Not all companies write in all states. I've been most happy with Erie Insurance, as a customer. They write in maybe 5 states. So you'll need to ask that question of an agent who can give you RELEVANT information, in your state.
