Will they ever be a super light super cheap and therefore super fast car?

I want a car like this one, (ariel atom) note the weight 456Kg! http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/frames.htm 0-60mph 2.9seconds! With only 220BHP 2liter engine however it needs a smaller engine to lower insurance costs for younger drivers. How cool would that be for your first car! I wanted to know if they is anything similar, because i hate hatchbacks their too heavy (about 1000Kgs) This is not an add i just love this car!

5. Well, i'm guessing no. Cars that are super light and super fast are not super cheap. For a car like that, your talking a few hundred thousand. The Ariel atom looks great, but not street legal. So if you don't have money for a Ferrari or Porsche, then i would say you should look into the Lotus Elise. It isn't a hatchback and is the lightest car you will find for a reasonable price. Otherwise, there are various ways to make a car go fast without having it be super light.
6. Cars like the one you like have always existed on the fringe of automobile manufacturers. Normally, you can buy these cars in kit form. This neatly gets around certain requirements that a full-scale manufacturer would have to meet. I'm assuming that you are British( reference to MPH but weight in Kilos) The link you provided is to a full-scale track car, a toy. Weather protection, passenger accomodation etc..are not there. There's a Company in Georgia (USA) that installs an up-to 220 horsepower Honda VTEC in the old-style (real) Mini. Naught to 60 in around 4 seconds. From what I understand, it's a wild ride.
