car insurance quote when being out of the country for 4 years, lost no claims bonus?

anyone got experience of trying to get reasonable car insurance - with full no claims in this country and new zealand, im being penalised for being out of the country and being treated as new driver, anyone got any answers or any insurance companies i could try who would be sympathetic

  1. The question is, have you been driving the last 4 years or not? If not driving, could go against you. If driving the entire time and insured in each county, you might want to contact those companies to see if they will send proof of no claims during that time. Most no claim bonus are based with "each" company and "earned" for the time insured with "that" company. I "believe" that when you change companies, you start over? You need to get on the phone and talk to an insurance agent for advice. Most likely if you can prove that in 4 years you have had no claims, will not get you a no claims bonus, but rather "cheaper" rates based on your prior 4 years with no claims. good luck
  2. If you are in the UK then if for whatever reason you have not held a UK car policy for 2 years, never mind 4, you lose any NCB built up. You are being treated just the same as anyone else in that situation. No UK insurer will recognise a NZ no claims period even if you could prove it.
