  1. I was with Geico....but then I found out that I could get a lot better coverage for alot less with Progressive......jsut gotta search and see what is the most affordable for you!
  2. they all charge different rates of commission find the cheapest then go direct it will be cheaper again
  3. as the old saying goes shop around. u will find summat tht works 4 u
  4. esurance.com worked out best for me........cheaper than Geico/Allstate/Progressive and all of them...........
  5. Cause as brokers they get negotiate different deals with the insurers depending upon how much business they introduce to each company etc. Some insurers offer better deals to brokers based on a higher percentage of the brokers total business. Also, some of them give some of their commission to get the price below other websites.
  6. i was shopping around the other day and had same problem and when you get a quote on-line it doesn't include everything as i found out when i spent 2 hours ringing the insurance companies instead we were with admiral for 4 years this year they hiked our prices up so now gonna go with more than 400 pounds cheaper i recommend ringing round
  7. They all trade under different names. It's the same with home insurance.Keep searching if you have 4 years no claims try more than.We got our insurance for about £200 less than what the others were asking & your no claims are protected.Good Luck
  8. no idea but I insure with egg and i find it quite cheap . . .
  9. I think it's because the moneysupermarket.com confused.com etc take a small % so add extra. So whhat I do is if Elephant came up on cheaper than I go to elephant.co.uk and do a new quote and it's cheaper again. EDIT: What is the excess for Norwhich Union? I found it very high
  10. Commission for selling the policy-- they will acept more or less commission on the sale...
  11. It isn't madness, just business. You can get different prices for all kind of items, tangible or not, same items, different prices. It just goes to show that "you get what you pay for" means jack S and always did. Not sure where you are but here are some of the cheapest offers I have found, both for the UK and Usa. http://motorcars.ebookorama.com/car-insurance.php
  12. The rule of the thumb of people selling car insurance is how much earning or commission they would like to earn. In your case, you will find that the quotes from different website even if they are selling the same product of the same company, is because the margin of profit they would like to earn. I found out a good info about car insurance quotes at http://car-insurance2u.blogspot.com where you can find much info about car insurance including the NCD.
  13. According to a friend's observation, new price comparison sites usually offer competitive rates by reducing commission level. I guess it might be true for new insurance brokers too. there are a couple of them that I know of: cia insurance, castle cover. Happy shopping Jim
  14. just keep on chearching on the internet for the best deal. Maybe read some reviews of existing costumers. Insurance is quite intagible... so it' doesn't really matter where you buy it. The price difference is probably due to commisions that are paid to different agents. In australia there is a website catering for the local market http://cheap-car-insurance.com.au (for cheap car insurance) that provides reviews of car insurance companies. There is probably something like that in your area. Best of luck
