Why car insurance quote is so expensive?

I got quoted by allstate for 1180/6 months for full coverage on a 2010 Toyota Corolla. I am 22 years old and have a pretty clean record, what the heck is going on? Where can I get cheap insurance?

1. that sounds pretty cheap only $200 a month for a new car. it all depends on where you live and the fatc that most accidents are caused by drivers under 25

The cost of insurance is determined not only by where you live or how old you are, but how much you drive, whether or not you owe money on the car, whether you cover the car for property damage and liability only or whether you take "collision" and coverage for damage to your own car. The amount of your deductible is also a factor. First, shop around a bit. While most companies are fairly close in their costs because they face the same risks, there are differences. You might also look online for the company which sells insurance by the distance which you drive. (Sorry. I do not remember its name.) You buy, for example "Five thousand miles" worth of insurance from them, and when you have gone that distance, you are no longer insured. But it is cheaper than paying by the "six months," which is what most companies do.
