Why is car insurance quote from tesco £550 whereas competitors quote over £1000 ?
i went through swinton, axa ,norwich union, high performance, churchil, and a couple others. they did not even come close...is this possible? i am a bit suspicious, if that tesco quote is reliable, but they say when i call that i can complete the whole process online and i do enter the same detail as on other websites.

- i got a good deal with tescos but its because you are a new customer you are getting a good deal when i put in i had 2 years no claim bonus it went up and when i said i had none it went cheaper .i think if you are new you are getting an extra 30% of the prices
- Go to confused.com, put in your details and they will find you an insurance company i was quite surprised with my car insurance. I got a quote from Quinn direct and it was a very good quote indeed and i have seen people on here recommend them too.
- Try confused.com or moneysavingexpert.com to make sure
- your best bet is to get a quote on line @confused.com. places like tescos and especially churchhills get you on board cheap then hick the prices up the following year, so don't stay with the same one when they increase the the price even with no claims bonus look around every time
- You probably forgot to mention you had 24 points on your license and have been banned for drink driving on 6 different occasions, check with Norwich Union, if they want £ 1000 then £ 550 is about right.
- If you can save this money and still get the same conditions, it proves what a rip off car insurance can be.
- it should be reliable just make sure you are getting the right cover you want and check the excess charges, but i normally shop around and my quotes have differed by hundreds at the moment the best deal i got was through the post office saving me quite a bit from what i paid last year
- they usually go by how many years no claims bonus you have.
- You must have told them what they wanted to hear! it's best to swop your insurance every year anyway as you get a discount as a new customer, there is no loyalty for staying with the same company anymore and.....Well done for getting the cheaper quote and Tesco are is OK.
- I've used tesco for the past couple of years and would recommend them without hesitation. They are far cheaper than any of the other companies and they provide a good customer service. Whenever I have needed to phone them, they have answered immediately (none of this waiting round for half an hour listening to Beethoven) All my queries have been dealt with by friendly, informative staff.
- Perhaps should you have an accident, the coverage will represent the premium paid in relation to other quotes---50% or less
- you get tesco points as well and my son first time car got £80 cash back
- try elephant.com i thought they were quite reasonable
- It's called competition and yes the Tesco insurance will be the same as quoted just enter the reference number that was on the quote There is nothing sinister about a lower quote Chances are that Tesco will probably submit it to an outside insurance company anyway as they do not indemnify themselves Its called underwriting
- Tesco's is offering to insure just your car,the expensive offer will be full of extras to cover you as well.I've known people to have real problems with Tesco's. let them stick to selling food and go to a proper insurer for a quote.Cheapest is not always the best.
- The same happened with me and I didn't care if people say cheapest is not always good as there was no way I was paying £1000 on insurance when Tesco offered £600.
- stop asking the same question, man did they shake you up by lowering the price what's wrong with you twit.
