I am 17 years old and I hav recently jst passed my driving test. I was wondering where i can find the cheapest car insurance. Preferably, i would like to put myself as second driver of the car (under my dads name who is the main driver). But does any1 kno where i can find the cheapest car insurance for someone my age? Thanx in advance.

- when i was 17 i went with CIS insurance (cooporative insurance servvices i think) they were the cheapest around for me at that time. we knew an insurance broker who found them for us.
- i think my dad did it with asda try it.
- my son passed his test at 17 and is insured on his dad's car,as named driver with Direct Line and found it the cheapest in our area
- This can be kind of tricky depending on the insurance your dad already has. I don't have kids, but my personal auto insurance is significantly discounted because I've had zero accidents/tickets since I got my driver's license over 30 years ago (ACK!), I have multiple vehicles with the same insurer, and I have other policies other than auto with them. Plus I have a "loyalty" discount. If your dad has an "umbrella" liability policy, that may come into play as well. The other people who answered had some good tips on doing searches for insurance. Before signing up with the "cheap" insurance, do some research on the web for comments or feedback people may have left on the company in response to customer service and so forth. Sometimes the phrase "you get what you pay for" really does apply. Good luck!
- If you are going as the second driver when you are really the main one you really need to have a look at the links below. The cheapest insurance is not going to come from the same place for everyone and the only way to find it is to do the work and shop around. If you are going to commit insurance fraud by getting dad to "Front" it for you then you may as well throw the money in the fire. The Police and insurers are on to this big time now and the consequences of being caught make it not worth risking.
- the best people for young drivers on a provisional license is Quinn Direct, you can fin them on www.moneysupermarket.com which is a price comparison site as well. Be careful though as they usually double their premiums once you pass your test, if you think it may be near to a year before you pass then they are worth going with but otherwise just compare prices on the above website to see.
