Do car insurance companies always increase your premiums or drop you after excessive points?
Does that depend on the company, and how much or how little can the premiums increase or does that also depend you your car insurance company. I have 8 points now unfortunately, pending on 10 who knows, and in my state of NJ that's okay just as long as it doesn't hit 12, then you're suspended for a while. Anyways, I'm worried about how this might affect my car insurance next cycle. I'm with GEICO currently and have been with them for several several years.

- holy sh*t thats a lot of points. yeah ur insurance will go up. you should take an online course to get rid of some of those points. you need some pba cards too. even in nj thts alot of points to have.
- Your insurance rates will go up significantly. They will not drop you. But when you reach 12 points, the company will put you in the 'high-risk' pool. That means even higher costs to you. If your license is suspended, you cannot drive. And if you do drive, while suspended, you are not insured. However, while suspended, the vehicle IS insured IF a licensed driver is driving and an accident occurs. Slow down. I know you will not. But try and make an effort. If not for yourself, then for me. I use the NJ turnpike and the GS parkway all the time. Good Luck.
- For car insurance the best way to get a great rate is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same limits, car model, zip code, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison. What I usually recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and will give multiple quotes on car insurance polices.
- You may want to consider taking driver's ed to get some of those points dropped off. Each insurance company is different, and you would need to check with your insurance company directly to find out about increases in your payments. In general, just about every auto insurance company will give you discounts, and reduce points if you take a driver's education course.
