When changing car insurance companies, am I bound by law to show the new policy to the old insurance company?
Say, today is 1st Feb'07. I had an car policy (from Farmers) that expired on 1st Jan'07. Today, I buy a new policy from a different insurance company(AAA).

- No you don't have to show your new policy to the old insurance company..........md
- Not in the state of CA, however you might have to show it to the new company to show that you had continuous coverage. Some companies give discounts just by showing your proof.
- I cannot imagine why the law would require that. Is there more to this? Why are you asking?
- Easy answer, nope. Not solvable question, nope.Have a look here http://www.Autoinsurancepro.info/auto-insurance-free.htm ,your answer may be here
- If your OLD policy was still in force, you might want to show your CURRENT policy to the old carrier - to avoid being charged by the old company. If the OLD policy was still active - they might STILL be earning premium and could hold you responsible for the charge for coverage. If the old policy is NOT in force when you buy a new policy - your old company could care less. Your old agent might be trying to win you back by comparing what you are paying NOW versus what they were charging you in the past. Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
