What car modifications dont affect insurance price?
I live in the UK and wondered if anyone knows any car modifications that dont affect insurance price or ones you dont have to declare to insurance company? I heard that lexus lights dont affect it but I'm not sure if this is true?

- I think you'll find that any modifications to a car will increase the premium as you have to declare these to the insurance company. Modifications make a car either more desirable (to steal) or perform better on the road (meaning in the insurers eyes you're going to go faster and increase the chances of crashing), so unfortunately in almost all cases mods will up your premium. Try and start with the cheapest policy, that way if you add some mods to it, it will still be a bit cheaper than going for a more expensive policy in the first place, use a car insurance comparison site like http://www.HonestJohnny.co.uk or www.Confused.com
- modifications modify the premium, for better or worse. If you make the car harder to steal (or less desireable) then your premiums for comprehensive coverage (other than collision) will decrease, if you make the car safer (add a roll cage?) your medical coverage might be less, et cetera.
- You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here - carinsurance.enacre.net
- Lexus lights? ummm. if you have a lexus and you put new headlights in, no it doesn't need to be declared. that's general maintenance. If your talking about replacing stock bulbs with an HID kit. I wouldn't bother reporting it to insurance. it's just bulbs (and in many cases is illegal anyways) Exhausts and air filters don't need to be declared. Same with brakes, they are all parts that require replacement and is expected.
