Where is the best place to get cheap car insurance for young drivers in the uk?

Hey everyone, ive tried all the usual avenues to find cheap(ish) car insurance for my 18 year old cousin and to be honest they are coming back with ridiculously expensive quotes, does anyone know of there are any companies in the uk that do offer a good deal?

  1. TESCO car insurance...it was so cheap for me as a first time, 18 year old driver :) second best is privalege, thirdly is churchill :)
  2. its pretty impossible to get cheap insurance for young drivers, an oldish car with a small engine is definatley a help but your still probably looking around 1000+ pounds. i found more than gave me the cheapest quote, i have heard quinn direct arent to bad, the brokers are normally cheaper. Pass plus helps lower insurance as well.
  3. HI MY SON JUST PASSED HIS DRIVING TEST HE IS 20 HE HAS GOT A CITRON SAXO 1.4 I SHOPPED ABOUT AND GOT RIDICULOUS PRICES AROUND 1400 POUNDS I WAS TOLD ABOUT SWIFT COVER PART OF THE AXA GROUP THEY ONLY DO IT ONLINE I TRIED THEM AND THEY CAME BACK WITH A PRICE OF 600 POUNDS INCLUDING BREAKDOWN COVER AND PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER OF 50000 SO HE GOT THAT POLACY WITH THEM THOSE ARE THE CHEEPEST WE FOUND HOPE THAT HELPS YOU GOOD LUCK
  4. What car does he have? That can play a big part and what is worse is that a male under 21.
  5. have you tried swiftcover, its a online only car insurance everything done on the computer,it was the cheapest car insurance for me,and low deposit.give it a go ,www.swiftcover.co.uk. good luck.
  6. Quinn Direct was the best 18 months ago. 17 year old first time driver. It did go up when we informed them that he had passed his test, but it did allow him to drive any car (with owners permission) as soon as he had passed - scary!
  7. you can insure for a month or two here http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/ukmotoring-insurance-quotes.php?id=jmbo3 also they have the PO there, asking for a price is free, good luck
