Do Car Insurance rates go up when being rear ended?
I was rear ended and it was NOT my fault. I live in California and have State Farm. Will my rates go up?
Public Comments
- Yes. Your fault or not, they will go up.
- If the repairs to your car are charged to your policy, then your rates might go up. If the other driver's insurance pays, then no. .
- if accident wasn't your fault then preminum wouldn't change and no claim bonus is intact the person who caused accident will have to forefit thier no claims bonus as you would claim on their insurance their rates will increase to cover claim
- If the person who hit you is found at fault, and pays for the damage, it won't affect your insurance. If they are found at fault and don't pay the damage, and your insurance has to pay, it could affect your rates. Ask your agent.
- A rear end collision is the fault of the guy who hit you. It shouldn't affect your rates.
