How much would car insurance cost for me monthly?

I'm a 17 year old kid and I'm looking to buy a new car and insuring it as well. Let me give you some information. I totalled my car about a year and half ago, but besides that I haven't gotten into any accidents or gotten any tickets. So what do you think it would cost me monthly to insure a car? I'm driving a 1997 VW Jetta I am an A student with lots of community service if that matters

  1. If you're male, it'll probably be around $300 a month for liability. With full coverage, it'll be around $500 a month. If you damaged someone else's car when you totalled yours, it'll probably be around $500 a month for just liability. If it was just your car toalled and your insurance didn't have to pay anything to another driver, but if the accident is on your record because the police came out, then it'll probably be around $400. There are insurance companies that provide discounts for good grades.
  2. Nobody can answer this. Insurance pricing is based on many personal factors and you have to provide an actual make, model and year of vehicle. Until you know which vehicle you are insuring, it's anyone's guess.
  3. As the insurance companies are concerned 18 months is the same as yesterday. Depending on which insurance company it requires at least 3 years before your rates will decrease. Expect to pay about 50% more than the average 17 year old in your neighborhood without an accident on their record. The actual number will depend on where you live and the price and type of car you intend to buy.
  4. Try getting quoted from a few sites and go for the cheapest one. Here's one from my bookmarks http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/?id=33887 When choosing a carrier, if you don't recognize them make sure they are licensed to do business, you can check with your state insurance department: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=state+insurance+department&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=
  5. If you only totaled the one car at 17 it'll be cheap especially if you are financing it. NOT!
