How much will car insurance cost me?

Im 19 and will be moving back to san diego in early january. I will have a job at SDGE and am wondering if someone knows of a place to get cheap car insurace. Allstate in oregon is telling me its gonna cost 1400 for 6 months. No way im paying that. Help me.

1. 1400 seems pretty ridiculous. Do you have a lot of accidents or traffic tickets? That could be you problem. I have progressive and have avery reasonable rate yet I have a clean driving record.
2. Just research and get quotes. (Google). To get in with a good insurance company you might have to pay top dollar because you are a young 19 year old male. Most young males are more at risk for auto accidents. They'll check your driving history and credit and whether or not you had tickets. Or you can go to the local auto insurance joints around town who will about cover anybody but have sorry coverage. Just look around man and compare quotes.
3. Hi Ron, That is really high. I would check out the source I listed below. Their average 6 month policy only costs $299 and that is for full coverage. I don't know any of your specifics and have no idea what your price would be, but it will be a lot cheaper than $1400. Check them out it only takes a minute to get a personal quote. Good luck! :)
4. I agree with April, Insurance in CA is high but 1400 is crazy!!! I'm 20 with tickets and I don't pay that much Full coverage should be around $60 a month. Shop around. I live in LA and I pay $59 a month for full coverage on my 2007 Mustang GT. Call my source below. They can probably help.

7. Insurance is very individual because it's based on personal record, sex, age, and a number of other variables such as location, credit rating etc
