Good price on full coverage auto insurance?

I just bought an 09 ford escape XLS, with a 4 cylinder engine and lo-jack installed. I'm 27 years old and a married federal employee. Since the vehicle is financed I have to have full coverage insurance of course. I'm located in New Jersey so its a bit expensive. With $1000 deductibles, road side assistance and rental car coverage I was quoted at $113.95 a month OR $602 for 6 months from esurance... Is this a good price? I havent had to have full coverage before and want to make sure I'm getting a reasonable rate More info: My license is clean as the last time I drove in the states was 9 years ago. The other factor is that for the past 9 years I've been in europe and because of that my insurance company isnt recognized here, so its like I havent been insured then.

  1. I don't live in New Jersey (use to) but I have checked out dozens of insurance carriers, and found that GEICO offers the best rates for me, in spite of their goofy advertising
  2. depending where u live and driving record [and if a kid of driving age in house] it sounds ok...NJ is well known for being a ripoof state..i know i once lived in NY...In Va where i an now i pay for 2 car full coverage 500 deductible...650 dollars a year...we live in the woods....but i know kids paying 200 a month just for insurance
  3. Since you told me that you are a federal employee, I am wondering if you or any family member are in the military. If you are, then contact USAA. They should be the cheapest for you. If it doesnt work out, send me an email and I can get you a few quotes from several carriers, no strings attached at all. You really did not provide enough insuance information in your question for me to advise you whether or not this is a good price. Additional items of information needed for comparison are what is your threshold, verbal or non-verbal, what PIP options did you select, how about uninsured.underinsured motorist coverages. Some of the question that need to be answered I would not want to ask you on line for your privacy. (ie what city you reside in) and that has a lot to do with the pricing. Nowadays, hard to believe but your credit rating has a lot to do with the pricing as well. I would love to get you insurance quote and am a licensed insurance broker in NJ. Send me an email and I will give you my work number if you would like some quotes
  4. That is an excellent quote. When I lived in NJ 14 yrs ago, my 1989 Ford was about $1200 per year. I had a clean record, over 25 yrs old, etc. Make sure you have high liability limits (at least 250,000/500,000/100,000 or 500,000 single limit), Make sure you have matching uninsured/underinsured motorist liability too. People in NJ tend to be sue happy (hence the high rates) so it is best to have the highest liability limits available. Also, it is not much more expensive to raise liability limits. You want to protect your assets too.
  5. A BIT more expensive? Yikes, that's an understatement for NJ. I'm guessing, for $602 for six months, you have no liability insurance? Limited tort? ROTTEN COVERAGE. Your problem is your agent has NO clue what they are doing. "Full coverage" does NOT mean you are fully covered. In your case, if you hit a car worth more than $5,000, you'll be writing a check for the difference. I'd bet, based on your premium. Go get an agent who can explain each coverage to you, and make recommendations.
