Can your car insurance rates go up if someone gets tickets in your car and They are not listed as a driver.. . Thanks for your answers so far.. let me go a little further in detail.. I am insuring my car, and I am insuring someone elses car BUT I did not use them as a driver on my policy... does this help clairify a little? yeah I know, not the smartest thing to do.. so don't tell me that.. I am just helping out a family member.

  1. They can go up for any reason the insurance company dreams up.
  2. It shouldn't because it's the driver, not the car getting tickets. If that other person is in an accident in your car and your insurance company has to pay for repairs for your car (even if it was NOT you driving) then, yes, the rate will go up. Also your rate might go up, if YOU get tickets driving some other car, not yours.
  3. no. When YOU get a ticket in goes on YOUR driving record and your insurance company looks up YOUR driving record. DO NOT let anyone use your car!!!
  4. It makes sense to me that it could make your rates go up. The fact that you let someone use your car that gets a ticket shows that the insurance company is at a greater risk by issuing a policy for you on your car.
  5. As long as they have the driver license for the driver getting the tickets they cannot charge them against you. However you should not take a risk with a driver getting several tickets and allowing them to drive your car. If this driver is ever at fault for an accident in your car then the party they hit have the right to also come after the car owners insurance company to sue for damages. And if you don't have enough coverage you may end in a legal battle. Not worth the risk!
  6. yes, your rates will go up. the driver record of the other driver will be seen by the insurance company.
