Need to find auto insurance in Canada..I have a long lapse in insurance but a clean record. Any ideas?

I have been living in Costa Rica for 3 years..It is a privatized insurance system and im sure not considered in Canada as recognisable Insurance. Are there any normally priced insurance available. ?? Thanks I appreciate the answer but Costa Rica insurance is privatized and not recongnised. I have a Canadian lisence and no insurance in Canada for years but a perfect recod.

  1. Living in Upstate NY, (and licensed here) - from what I know; Canadian insurance is close to NY - not the same; but close. Do you still hold a Canadian license? Or have you transferred it to Costa Rica? - Step one: transfer your license back to your Province. (in NY, we have 30 days upon residence to transfer our license/insurance/registration - please check with your Province and Canadian law) - continuity of coverage (regardless of origin - as long as it's clearly proven) should behave as if you'd had insurance in Canada all along ..... you SHOULD be able to "shop" for Canadian insurance as if you've been there all along. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE DOCUMENTED CONTINUITY OF YOUR INSURANCE! - usually, most important is to show 6 months of insurance uninterrupted to qualify for "better" rates. I'm not aware of Canadian insurance law, but I'd like to think we kind of have the same "model". If you don't physically have the documentation, ask that your Costa Rican insurance provider fax it to either you; or your new Canadian representative. I prefer to err on the side of having it in hand; your call. I think you may be able to find "normally" priced insurance if you fully disclose your situation - and have documentation to prove you've continuously held insurance. Good Luck!!!!!
  2. For auto insurance the best way to get a low quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same limits, auto type, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison. What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have big name insurers and will give several prices on auto insurance polices.
  3. There are lots of people having the same question like you and yours is just another one. Basically speaking about car insurance.Car insurance is the most widely purchased type of insurance coverage. Car insurance is designed to protect you, your family, and your automobile. You may get your query answered here, http://www.best-autoinsurance.we.bs/ Cheap car insurance is a popular avenue these days, but you should be sure that you're getting all of the coverage you need, as damage to your car or another person's car may cost you money out-of-pocket if you don't have sufficient coverage and your car insurance rate may go up.
  4. Which province are you coming back to. Some (like BC) you have only one choice, ICBC. Insurance Hotline ( http://www.insurancehotline.com ) is a good place to start looking at rates.
  5. One of the top free insurance quoting service for consumers living in Canada is: http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2952034-10392698 By filling out a simple on line request form you should be able to find some good rates. Hope This Helps!
